The Sabof
A community of people engaged in many different ways in practices of care, understood in the original philosophical sense of a “therapeutics” of living and living-with. Our commitment responds to the desire to cultivate and preserve an open, dialogical, and interdisciplinary field of lifelong learning.
«What does it take to become an excellent analyst?
If I had – or if there were – a recipe… Still, the first condition is to get the very idea of “excellence” out of one’s head. As Bloch said, the excellent is the enemy of the good.
So let us say a good enough analyst: an ongoing, steady, patient work on oneself, going into analysis with a humility that is not fake, and continuing that work when one remains alone with oneself. And then, for me – and this holds for every profession and every form of existence – being able to decide on a discipline of life, a spiritual diet made of a set of exercises, philosophical in the sense mentioned above, that gradually shape one’s way of living.
This outlines a path of practice and thought that seeks to keep alive and deepen, bringing it into our own time, the legacy of Pierre Hadot.
On this basis, together with friends at Philo, we have sought to build a school that weaves the analytic heritage together with that of philosophical practices, and we have founded a Society of Biographical Analysis with a Philosophical Orientation (SABOF).
Not in order to replace other schools: within SABOF there are analysts trained at Philo alongside others with Jungian, Lacanian, Gestalt and other backgrounds, who also remain members of their original associations.
For my part, I continue to belong to AIPA and IAAP, the Italian and international associations of analytical psychology, and I am part of LAI, the Laboratorio Analitico delle Immagini, a group of analysts devoted to studying and practising sandplay, following the approach developed by Paolo Aite.
All this, however, without the slightest illusion of having found the philosopher’s stone. These are merely supporting aids, so to speak; the formation of each person is a matter far too important, profound and never-ending to be reduced to a single school»

La Sociedad de Análisis Biográfico con Orientación Filosófica de Argentina es la sede en el país de la Società di Analisi Biografica a Orientamiento Filosofico (Sabof) con sede en Milán y Roma. La componen un socio ordinario de la italiana y miembros dedicados en su mayoría al ámbito PSI (psicólogos, psiquiatas, etc.). A través de ella, brindamos entre otras actividades:
– Atención psicológica
– Grupos de supervisión
– Grupos de Estudio
Damos cabida a profesionales de distintas disciplinas y escuelas psicológicas, con una rigurosa y abierta formación tanto al mundo imaginal como a los aportes de las escuelas filosóficas antiguas que buscan cultivar y fomentar el aspecto espiritual del ser humano.
Nuestras puertas están abiertas para recibir a nuevos profesionales que deseen sumarse Sabof.

The Society for Philosophically-Oriented Biographical Analysis of Argentina is the national branch of the Society for Philosophically-Oriented Biographical Analysis (Sabof), based in Milan and Rome. It is made up of an ordinary member of the Italian association and of professionals who work mainly in the field of mental health (psychologists, psychiatrists, etc.).
Through this Society we offer, among other activities:
– Psychological support
– Supervision groups
– Study groups
We welcome professionals from different disciplines and psychological schools, with rigorous training and an openness both to the imaginal world and to the legacy of ancient philosophical schools that seek to cultivate and nurture the spiritual dimension of human beings.
Our doors are open to new professionals who wish to join Sabof.

«¿Qué hace falta para ser un excelente analista? Si yo tuviera, o existiera, la receta… Pero la primera condición es sacarse de la cabeza “lo excelente”. Bloch decía que lo perfecto es enemigo de lo bueno. Justamente. Digamos un buen analista: un trabajo continuo, asiduo y paciente sobre sí mismo, mientras se va, con humildad no fingida, a análisis y cuando se permanece a solas con uno mismo.
Y después, para mí –pero esto vale para cualquier profesión y para cualquier existencia– saber llegar a decidir una disciplina de vida, una dieta espiritual, que practique un conjunto de ejercicios, filosóficos en el sentido dicho antes, que vayan modelando el modo de vida. Esta es una línea de práctica y de pensamiento que busca mantener vivo y profundizar, adecuándolo a la contemporaneidad, el legado de Pierre Hadot. Sobre esta base intentamos, con los amigos de Philo, construir una escuela que integre la herencia analítica con la de las prácticas filosóficas, y constituimos una sociedad de análisis biográfica de orientación filosófica (SABOF).
No para sustituir a las otras escuelas: en SABOF hay analistas formados en Philo junto con otros de formación junguiana, lacaniana, gestáltica… que siguen perteneciendo también a sus asociaciones de origen.
Por lo demás, yo mismo continúo perteneciendo a la AIPA y a la IAAP, las asociaciones de psicología analítica italiana e internacional, y formo parte del LAI, Laboratorio Analítico de las Imágenes, un grupo de analistas comprometido en estudiar y practicar el juego de la arena, según la orientación de Paolo Aite. Pero todo esto sin ilusionarse mínimamente con haber encontrado la piedra filosofal.
Son solo ayudas de contorno, por así decirlo; la formación de cada uno es una cuestión demasiado importante, profunda e interminable como para reducirla a una escuela.»
